Escape

I’m going to Bali on a annually company trip. Another trip. Another famous beach. I’m excited!

Yet these occasions always remind me of one of my favorite quotes from Jim Rohn:

“I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change.” – Jim Rohn

He’s absolutely right. It’s always easier to escape than change! I see it happening all around my life…

Happy Traveling

I’ve had 5 amazing trips in the first – very productive – 5 months in terms of travelling although it’s somewhat marred by quite lots of things. Since I didn’t have much time to write a post for each, here’s the summary for all of them 🙂

First, I celebrated the new in year in Malacca where I had my best trip so far. Its cooling weather, nice & cheap food & particularly my dear made it awesome. I love those moments so much!!

1 month later, at the beginning of February, I went back to my home town to celebrate the Tet (Chinese/Lunar New Year) as usual. I even planned a quick trip to Laos but failed cos of many reasons. Then all of a sudden I had to witness my close friend’s dad passing away in the early morning of the Valentine day which marked a generally sad LNY trip.

At the nearly end of March, I had a company trip to Phuket – my first ever trip to Thailand. Phuket is such a wonderful city with many beautiful beaches and we had quite a lot of fun there. We went shopping, finishing, snorkeling & particularly Thai message which is cheap & enjoyable. However, things started to went wrong after this (it actually began before this). It took me 1 month to cool down and another month to settle everything else.

At the end of April till the oncoming May, I had a planned trip to Langkawi which is another popular place for beach lovers. But because I was not in the good mood before and during the trip & partially it was right after the Phuket trip, Langkawi didn’t leave much impression on me. It was especially boring at night. We didn’t even manage to ride the cable car nor visit the waterfalls because of bad weather… Not many other sightseeing either. A very poor & sad trip!

Then again around 23rd of May, I went on a trip to Bangkok for nearly 3 days 2 nights & then Chiangmai for another 3 days 2 nights (1 overlapping day between the 2). As similar to the previous trip to Thailand, this was great too. Will cover this in detailed in another post. Quite a lot of things to say 🙂

Malacca Trip

I’ve just spent my new year in Malacca – a historical town which is just a 3-hour plus on bus from Singapore and around another 2 to KL.

At first, it was said to be boring and nothing much there. In fact, I did feel regret when arrange a relatively long trip in that small town. However, it turns out to be a good trip and rest for a new year.

One of my very first impression there is the weather. It was all sunny yet not very hot with a little bit cloudy at times. That was such a fantastic weather to hang around the town.

Very talented & interesting personality

Another funny guy

I don’t know if they’re English and Malay names about Malacca (indeed, they are) but I found it quite funny when they don’t standardize its name in the same context. Even in a same museum, some call it Malacca; some, Melaka.

Nice firework from Malacca

As a historical destination, it reminds me of my hometown Hue which is also a famous tourist destination in Vietnam. Similar to Hue, Malacca is also famous for its food. However, I myselft find it quite normal as similar as those Malay food I’ve tried in Singapore. They’ve got Egg Oyster; Nasi Lemak, Ayam Penyet, etc.. Among them, Nasi Lemak is absolutely my favorite Malay dish now. Of course, their prices there are pretty cheap, especially in compared to those in Singapore. We spent around RM 50 for a decent sushi there which would cost the same price but in Singapore Dollar in Singapore.

Cheap & decent durian. We bought 1 for only RM25

Would it be more well-arranged in terms of days, activities and money, we would have had a better trip. Anyways, they are severed as a good experience for us for our next trips. Overall, to be honest, I would not come back Malacca anytime soon (partially cos we did spent a lot of time there), but it’s a very decent and nice place to visit. Recommended.
